Pick a calculator
Most stock problems start with a number nobody worked out properly: a reorder point copied from last year, a count frequency that treats every SKU the same, or a stock take adjustment posted without checking what it cost. These calculators give you that number in a minute, with the formula shown so you can check the logic yourself.
Reorder point and safety stock calculator
Enter average daily usage and supplier lead time, then add a safety buffer in days or use maximum usage and lead time. Get safety stock and the reorder point in units.
ABC analysis calculator
Paste SKU, annual usage and unit cost in rand. The calculator ranks products by annual value and splits them into A, B and C classes using cut-offs you can change.
Stock take variance calculator
Paste system and counted quantities with unit cost. See variance per line in units and rand, net and gross variance, and your inventory record accuracy.
How to get useful answers
- Use real data. Pull usage, cost and quantities from your system or spreadsheet rather than estimating from memory.
- Keep units consistent. If a product is bought in boxes and issued in singles, convert everything to one unit of measure first.
- Use cost price in rand. ABC and variance values should be at cost, not selling price, so they reflect the money tied up in stock.
- Write down your assumptions. Lead times, buffers and class cut-offs change. Note what you used so the next review compares like with like.
Each tool page explains the method, walks through a worked example and lists the common mistakes, so the result is useful even if you never use any software beyond a spreadsheet.
When a calculator is no longer enough
A calculator answers the question once. Keeping the answer current across hundreds of SKUs and more than one warehouse is where spreadsheets start to strain. VasKem WMS stores a reorder point and reorder quantity on each product, raises low-stock alerts from them, and runs stock takes with automatic variance calculation and admin approval. See the full module list on the features page, or walk through the screens with sample data in the product tour, no sign-in needed.
