FIFO: first in, first out
FIFO dispatches eligible stock in receipt order, starting with the oldest received items.

- Keep receipt dates available
- Identify the stock being selected
- Keep physical storage consistent
- Handle quality exceptions separately
A simple example
Two otherwise equivalent deliveries arrive on Monday and Thursday. FIFO selects Monday's remaining stock first. If expiry dates are the deciding factor, review FEFO instead.
