ABC analysis groups inventory by a chosen measure of importance, often annual consumption value, so review effort can be prioritised.
What to review
- Define the measure first

- Review categories as demand changes
- Keep critical-item exceptions
A simple example
Multiply annual quantity used by unit cost, rank items and choose suitable category boundaries. A low-cost spare may still be operationally critical and deserve frequent review.
