Non-negotiable checklist

1. HTTPS everywhere, with modern TLS only.
2. Encryption at rest for the database and backups.
3. Multi-factor authentication for every admin user.
4. Role-based access control � no shared "manager" logins.
5. Audit logs that can't be edited by the user being audited.
6. Automated daily backups, with periodic restore tests.
7. Documented data export and deletion processes.

What to ask your vendor

Where is data hosted? How are backups protected? Who internally can access customer data, and how is that access logged? Ask us.
